Covey's Blessing Day

Covington Matthew Nelson

May 3rd, 2009

Yesterday was a big day for all of us, but most especially Covey. You see, it was his blessing day Sunday and our little boy finally received a name and a blessing. Up until yesterday we just called him "that baby" or "small one" or even "the organism", but all that ended at 11:20 am when he officially became Covington Matthew Nelson.

All week we were worried about the weather since we were planning on having the post-blessing luncheon at a nearby park. If it had been cold and rainy, we would have moved the party into our garage, but then there would have been the whole kids and toxic chemicals in close proximity thing, so it's good the weather cooperated.

We had a great day and enjoyed spending it with family and friends. Thanks to everyone who came and supported our little family. Now, enjoy some pictures from the day.

Kayson Larson and Covington Nelson

This is Covey with his best buddy Kayson, they were both blessed on Sunday along with two other babies. Kayson is three weeks older than Covey, but these two don't let petty differences like that affect their friendship. We expect big things from these two.

This is Todd and Brittany, Kayson's parents, and very good friends of ours. Whether Covey and Kayson decide to be friends under their own free will, or by parental coercion, we will see this friendship come to fruition, no matter what.

Above is the lineup of members of the blessing circle, they are: Kevin Ellis, Keith Lemon, Jason Nelson, Buzz Nelson, Covey and I, my Dad Terry Nelson, Glen Nelson, and Nick Meldrum. I'd have to say we all made a pretty good team, just the right amount of bounce for Covey's liking. He stayed reverent throughout the entire blessing.

Julia's side.
Matt's side.

I'm not sure who instigated it, but someone had the idea to do a grand kid picture of the kids on Julia's side of the family tree. Covey thought it was a great idea and just had to shout his approval.
Looking at the picture from left to right: that's Brock Ellis petting Faye Meldrum's head, then Ella Ellis wiping Covey's face, Mitchell Meldrum putting a toy car in his ear, and apparently Kaitlin Ellis ate some bad fish.

Just when we thought the excitement was all over for the day we came back to the car and caught Faye inside robbing us.
When we attempted to apprehend her, she fled from the scene. We were too stunned by her cuteness to continue our pursuit however.

Awesome post. What a fun day we had. Mitchell is happy that Covey has Kayson as a friend and says he better start looking for more cause you need more than one. My favorite was the caption of face wiping, head petting, and bad fish.
