Covington the Kid

Get ready for a Spew Fest of Covey's latest and greatest:

He LOVES taking the couch cushions off which drives me slightly crazy. And making PILES of everything he can get at. He says "mommy... whole world!" which means I'm the best mommy in the whole world! He loves CONTACT. This includes "belly bumpin", banging his head or feet against his bed, falling down on purpose, wrestling, jumping up and landing on his bottom, and more I'm sure that I can't think of. Does that mean he should play football? Scary! When he wants you by him or can't find you he yells out "DAD!" and "MOM!" (or just now "GWYN!" who's over here playing). He also sings along to songs in the car and knows"I am a child of God", the ABCs, and counts to 21.
He stays in time-out until you say and in his bed until you come get him. He never gets out on his own! It's pretty awesome. He loves books and story time. His lunch of choice is peanut butter and honey sandwich and strawberries. He must understand that there are lots of mommies and daddies because he always says "My mommy" and "My daddy". He sure loves to mimic and repeat what he hears us say.
It's crazy now how he can remember things. If we tell him we're going to the zoo tomorrow it's the first thing he says when he wakes up the next morning. And even more than "Jungle Jim's" now his new topic of choice for conversation is "Zoo...animals...dinosaurs...moving...water". We bought a year pass to the zoo and have gone 3 times already. They have dinosaurs there now that move and squirt water at you. He didn't like them at first. Think about how REAL they must look to a two year old! But he's warming up. He's actually not too interested in looking at the animals. He gives them a glance and wants to race on.
He's a little melancholy in a way. Whenever we leave the house he says (in a sad voice) "Bye House! Come baack. Come baack." I don't know if he wants reassurance from us that we'll come back or if he's reassuring the house that we'll come back. This farewell also occurs whenever we leave the park, when the car passes by any animal on the side of the road, and when he leaves his blanket behind.
It's so cute to watch him play and hear him having his toys talk to each other and act out little scenarios, like "fixing the road" (Cars). And he always explains that the toys are friends. He's also learned that if he asks for something in an excited voice I'm more likely to say yes... "I can play mommy! I can play!" "Yes, Covey you can play." And when he sees us getting out a treat he just started saying "It's popcorn time!" or "It's ice-cream time!" which is super funny because we didn't teach him that. I just love this little man! He gives us so much joy. *sigh*
