This was Matt's first day of med school (physician's assistant program). He thought I was silly for taking his picture which is probably why he gave me that half-hearted excited face. But, I thought the event was picture-worthy and in it you can see how sad Covey is right after saying "bye" to him. Oh, cool backpack, you say? Nick gets the credit for sending us that... as well as a Phineas and Ferb folder that Matt said created quite a stir among his classmates.

These were our surprises for him when he got home.

I took a bunch of pictures of Covey the other day, trying to get these trees as the background and these are the only ones where he was looking at me and holding still. They're not great, but he's still one good-lookin' dude.

On Friday, I went up to the Lady Fitness in West Haven for my sister's fundraiser for Faye. She's an aerobics instructor and had a special Boot Camp class for donations. At the time the class started there were only 8 people there and we were pretty disappointed. But people came late and we ended up with 21 (16 were non-family members).

My Aunt Cristie, cousin Hailee and I were in charge of the daycare for anyone who needed to bring their kids. ...But, apparently that was just me!

There's my awesome sis teaching the class... and there's her husband on the left being one supportive guy! There were, I think, 4 guys there total and they even kept at it during the Zumba portion! Their hips didn't lie!

Saturday was my birthday. I thought Matt forgot about it with all of his new school stress. Boy was I wrong! He surprised me with this little number when he woke up...

Wow! He's drawing on my old affinity for whales. Apparently he saved it from the dumpster when his old department at the hospital was remodeled. He's been saving it for months. And this is what I found on the back... more than the crazy promise of Hawaii (that I'm not holding my breath on), it's significant because it was his first of many future prescriptions!

We decided to go to breakfast and then to Sugarhouse Park to walk some laps and let Covey play. And here was my next present... I mentioned to Matt he might want some sunglasses for the park and this is what he came out with...!

At breakfast, Covey was sucking on a straw of chocolate milk and a straw of apple juice at the same time. Yuck! It was funny, though. I got a picture on my phone, but I can't get it to send to my email :(
My third present came that night when Matt watched Justin Beiber's Never Say Never with me! What a nice hubbo.
This was this morning before church. My sister-in-law, Stacey sent Covey one of her ties for his birthday (Plumstitch on Etsy, if you're interested) and Covey looked so darn handsome I had to get a picture.

In the afternoon, my Dad came over for my bday. He brought awesome presents...

Baseball stuff for Covey! Just what I wanted!
I wouldn't say I'm competing with Matt for Covey to play baseball vs basketball.
But I can't deny it either.

I think we need to get him a smaller, fatter bat for now, but it was SO fun to watch him try to hit.

Wow! Have you ever seen a more natural swing?

I had a great birthday! Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy one. Matt's week of school went well. I know he's a little nervous and overwhelmed, but at the same time, he has seemed more happy this week. I think that's a great sign and I have no doubt that he's going to rock this thing!

Where do I start? First off, Matt's present was awesome but I'm going to be really jealous if you get to go to Hawaii before me. Dad should not have indulged you asking for a present for Covey! Covey is now obligated to go pro and buy you the birthday present that never was. Also to respond to your comments on my blog--you are being REEdiculous to call Lucie a baby genious. Covey has just been too bust learning to read to worry about he potty and I helped her with the dress ups (but she did pick it out).
busy (not bust) the (not he). Let's just try that again--Covey has just been too busy learning to read to worry about the potty.
Also I can see that I hired the right girl for poster making. Nice stethascope!
Why does
Katie think she needs
to put multiple
comments on your blog?
How annoying is that?
I hope you answered, VERY!
Love the pic of Covey with clinched fists raised in the air. Happy school start for Mr. Matt. Judging the quality of prescriptions he is already doling out I think he'll be great. MaryAnn has the funniest video of Joe trying to do Zumba. It might be the funniest thing you have ever seen.
So awesome! Congrats Matt for getting school started. I love that you took a picture. I take pictures of first days of school and last days of school. If you need anything while he is super busy, let me know. Even just to run to the store by yourself. I know sometimes you just need some alone time. I love you blog, so cute.
Congrats Matt! Hard work will pay off! And Covey is as cute as he ever could be! getting SO big!! and I have to admit...When I saw the pic. matt gave you, I thought "wow, Julia's taste has changed.." then I read it was a joke, then it all made sense. HAHA love you two! you
are so funny!
