A Memoriable Weekend

But, first some pics I like that came first...

Having a good hair day.

Opening the mailboxes down the row. Over and over again.

First ride in his new bike seat. And "Yay!" he loves it!

On a hike with mom and dad.

We joined those generous Melums for another Hurricane getaway for Memorial Day weekend. We swam, swam, swam (weird word), found dinosaur tracks, went on bike rides, and relaxed in the sun. Covey started saying "moo" when we saw cows on our bike rides. And I said "Whoop Whoop!" when we saw a pony drawn buggy carrying two old ladies down the street! Hiking to the dinosaur tracks.

Can you see it?

This should help.

Oh, doesn't he look happy? This was a rough spot on the trip. Covey was desperately tired and we were waiting for the others to get back from a hike to see a fort. It was hot and Covey had had too much sun, so this was Matt's solution. It didn't last long. But, it's a funny picture.

He liked playing with this drippy hose more than being in the pool.

Playing with the big kids in the yard. Matt was the "cop" and would catch the kids and put them in "jail". And they couldn't escape until Covey came and opened the gate. So, he'd be playing on the slide and hear "Covey! Come save us!" He'd look over and get so excited that he was wanted and run over to open the gate.

We decided to avoid the traffic and come home Sunday night. So, we were able to make it to the Meldrum BBQ in Roy. And SO glad we did 'cause Covey got Grandpa ALL TO HIMSELF, since all the other grandkids were off on out-of-state adventures. Covey doesn't get much time with his grandparents and hardly ever gets them all to himself, so he was a happy boy and we were happy parents.

A side note about the BBQ... there wasn't any water there (except in the gross bathrooms) or anything non-carbonated, so Covey got his first taste of soda pop. His face was so funny after each drink. Usually he just guzzles his drinks, but this time it was a swallow, pull back, grimace, a swallow, pull back , grimace. He won't be getting pop again anytime soon... hopefully, if a mom can plan better and bring her own drink next time.

The grimace.

"It's going right to my head, Mom."

Making his Great Grandma smile.

After the BBQ, we went to Dad's and played cards while Covey napped. (He actually went back to sleep after being moved in from the car, Amazing!) Then we spur-of-the-moment decided to go to the Dinosaur Park. Covey was so cute hunting for those dinosaurs. When he saw one, he'd stop, point with two fingers, and say "oooooooh oooooooh". See pic below for how it looked.

Distracted by the prehistoric bear, I never saw the sabertooth coming.

On the hunt.

Oh WATER!!! There is always water there. I was so dehydrated! I will plan better next time also. I am pretty sure it is Mark's job to bring water, I'll have to let him know;)

I am glad you guys came! What a lucky little boy! I think you and Matt were the luckier ones though. Nice little break from following a toddler around.

Wow! You guys know how to have an adventure! that sounds like an awesome weekend. Covey is looking extremely handsome; great pics. And watch out for them tigers. A few other remarks: Great picture of Covey dressed as the angel Gabriel (?) and sweet bike seat! I bet that is so much fun. I actuallly like having them in the seat up next to me instead of clear back in the trailer; great choice. BooYah! That's how Nelsons do it!

ps: Covey's heat stroke treatment looks like some good ol' fashioned redskin problem-solving.

I didn't know you could do baby bike seats in the front. That's awesome. Kaitlin coined the term tickle juice after one of her first swigs of soda. I can see Covey had the same kind of life changing experience.
