Finn helping dad grill...
...and playing catch in his unders.
It didn't take too long to get him potty-trained here at the new house!
Besides painting the kitchen, the first project of the new house was the schoolroom. I wanted to get started on school as soon as possible, so we got it painted first thing and set out to making a desk. I wanted one long peice of wood that went the entire length of the wall. We couldn't find anything that size, but this on came somewhat close. It won't fit 3 kids at a time, though, so hopefully in the next 3 years, we'll find what we need.
After the schoolroom was done, we painted the other two bedrooms, the kids' bathroom, and the family room. Matt replaced outlets and light switches. I painted all the nursery furniture. While Matt and I worked, the boys found lots of time to play with the neighbors, Sophia and David.
One day, while I was out supervising the kids playing across the street in the cul-de-sac, I wondered what Matt was doing and why he didn't come say 'hi' after getting home from work. When I got home, this is what I found:
We had only mentioned the night before how nice it would be to take down this wall so the stairs were more open and light. I expected some more planning and deliberation before we went ahead with it, but Matt had seen quite enough demo days on Fixer Upper and thought there'd be nothing to it. His new buddy, Jeremy, was willing to help, thank goodness!
The boys loved taking a turn hammering a hole in the wall.
Look at all that electrical! This spur of the moment project took the next 9 weeks to complete!
Finn couldn't go anywhere without the tape measurer for awhile.
Bought our new TV from Costco! Our little 42" just wasn't going to look right on our big family room wall. So, 60" it is!
Pretty proud of a craft they made with dad.
Visiting beautiful Shoshone Falls
(Covey may look like he has a bald spot or a mom who got crazy with the clippers, but he actually has blonde patches of hair by his temples and even in a strip around the back of his head. I like his hair to be really short around the sides and back but the color can make it look patchy. Just an fyi.)
The boys were being real stinkers about getting pictures, as you can see.
Finn's face blowing a dandelion...
...Finn's face when I tell him his shirt and shorts are both backward.
Uncle Nick and baby Jay came to visit!!! Also, my mom and sister, but apparently only Jay warranted any picture taking...
We have a whole 'nother living room to furnish. So, here are the rug, chairs, and couch I ordered (because there's nowhere to shop in Twin Falls). The coffee table came later.
More playtime in our gorgeous new backyard.
I was pretty impressed with Matt's pancake jack-o-lantern!
The van hit 60k miles and it needed documentation. I don't know why, it just felt right.
Finn was pretty set on being Luke Skywalker (hence his long hair we were growing out). But that didn't stop me from trying to convince him to wear the pumpkin costume Covey wore when he was 3.
(This kid sure loves looking at himself in the mirror! There's one on the wall right there. And often, while he's at the table eating, he's talking to one of us, but watching himself in the mirror as he does.)
They both were on a tree-climbing kick for awhile and we had to look for a park with good climbing trees.
Matt's next project was a swing in the tree.
It gets a lot of use and the boys love it!
Look at all those bruises on Finn's legs! He's definitely getting a lot more outside play than he ever did before!
