October 2015

The Melums came to visit over General Conference weekend. It was the best!
A little cookout by the fire.

We had a little excitement when my phone fell in the fire. We couldn't believe the phone survived! The case, however, did not.

Covey's just a little excited to be with his best friend.

Photo props at Sips. Stopped to get a treat after a trip to the library.

The boys took swim lessons at the YMCA. I was very impressed. It was much better than the ones Covey tried in Bountiful.

 Oh, that Finn!

Finn LOVES the water! I loves his goggles and going under as much as he can.

 Fall leaf fun!

At library story time. Look how he's trying to stay on the bridge! So cute.
Here's a story that's not so cute and more... eh... mortifying! During one of the stories at this little toddler story time, Finn started pointing at something in the book the librarian was reading and yelling, "That's pornography!" What?! I wasn't sitting close by him, so from a distance, I tried to tell him to be quiet and no one said a thing. Well, she turned the page and whatever he saw before was there again and he let everyone know, "That's pornogralphy!" I just hid my face. I was so humiliated! Well, it happened a third time for good measure and I can't imagine what the other moms thought about me. When it was all over, I tried to find out what in the world had made him say that. Between him and Covey I figured it out. The church had made a super great video for kids about what to do when you see pornography and the way it was depicted in the video was a black, scribbly, tornado. Well, sweet, little 3 year old Finn thought that's what pornography must be, literally, and the book the librarian was reading was using a black, scribbly tornado above an elephant's head to show anger. Makes perfect sense to poor little Finn who I kept telling to be quiet. I couldn't show my face there for a few weeks.

A visit from Papa Mike!
We took a drive out to Hagarman to see the very disappointing Fossil Museum. Then found only this lake as we looked for "fossil beds".

He got to watch some swim lessons in the very muggy bubble...

... and play with them at the only fun park in Twin Falls. We call it the "Red Park".

Driveway fun.

They LOVE having a big driveway!

Finn's awesome nursery teachers invited all the kids to their house for a Halloween party.

 Trying some witches' brew.

This is the cutest Luke Skywalker I've ever seen!

 All the little nursery kids.

Parable of the Pumpkin for Family Home Evening.
(Using the Atonement to clean out our insides and shine.)

More swim lesson shots. I just can't resist documenting the cuteness in goggles!

The ward Trunk or Treat party.
Here's our Star Wars themed trunk. Matt painted that amazing Death Star!

Parading across the stage. (Our boys found their way across twice somehow.)

Matt and I won best costumes at the party, which we know was because they were the most humiliating. R2D2, an Ewok, Darth Vader, and Luke.

Halloween was a Saturday, which was great! We had time for lots of fun things.
First, we carved more pumpkins.

Making a Curious George.

Covey did a great job on it all by himself!

Finn designed his and Dad did the carving.

Then we raided the dress up box to wear something different for the carnival at the College of Southern Idaho. Finn was a Prince riding a dragon (dinosaur) and Covey was a rocketship.
The carnival was fun, but packed! The boys played games and got a good start on filling their candy buckets.

We stopped at Subway for lunch on the way home and saw these adorable puppies being sold by the parking lot. The boys loved holding them and giving them names. Covey named his favorite "Shirley" after grandma!

Then, it was Trick or Treating time!

At home, we watched Monster House and they examined their loot.
