San Diego 2015

The last week of March, we headed down to San Diego for Matt to attend a CME conference and have a family vacation. This was seriously the best trip we've taken so far! Matt had classes until noon every day, so the boys and I would go to the beach (just a golf cart ride away) or the pool and that made the days so relaxing. So many good memories from this trip!

First, an early birthday present: goodies to stay awake on the drive!

Getting in a little school on the way down!

Stopped off the strip in Vegas to use the bathroom and eat the breakfast food we packed.

We stayed at a resort on Coronada Beach and loved it. Not that it was super fancy, but it had an awesome pool and we got free rides to and from the beach.

Our first full day, Matt skipped orientation and we did the whole day at LegoLand.  The boys were beyond excited!

Some of the Lego characters greeting us on our drive in

LegoLand Hotel- We ate dinner here at the end of the day.

When we got near the ticket booths, 'Everything is Awesome' was playing and the boys were started dancing in pure joy.

They each got to buy a mystery pack mini figure. Finn ended up trading his "Jester" for a "Bad Cop" from one of the workers.

Big enough to ride a go kart all by himself at the "Driving School"! That was pretty sweet for this little 2 year old.

Meeting Wyld Style and making "Lego hands"

In "Finn's Basement" from the movie... here's the Octan Tower.

 Emmett!!

Learning how Legos are made

Covey got to put his creation up on display.
Traded for Bad Cop

Such a fun day! Covey's favorite part was the Technetix roller coaster and Finn's favorite parts were the Fire Truck race ride, where you work as a team to pump out the fire faster than the other teams, and the big treehouse jungle gym.

Our second day, at the beach.

After Matt's classes, we went to the Safari Park.

Matt and my favorite part was getting to feed these cute birds. Covey liked it at first but then got nervous about it. Finn wouldn't try. I look suuuuper awful but I was so happy with those birds perched on my hands!

On this tram ride, Covey met a boy from Canada named Josh that struck up a conversation with him. He really seemed to like Covey and they decided to become pen pals. We must've written his address down wrong, though, because we never got a letter back from him.

It was so fun to see the nice, herbivores roaming around and living all together.

"Milo" and "Cheetah Spot" were especially excited to watch the "Cheetah run" but poor Finn couldn't stay awake.

On Day 3, we went to Sea World. The Orca show and riding "The Manta" were the highlights!

Going on the rollercoaster Atlantis

On Day 4, we went to the zoo, where we walked up and down a ton of hills and a squirrel ravaged our trail mix bag we left in the stroller.

Finn was asleep upon arrival.

Covey loves maps!

Awww the koalas. We loved seeing the Orangutan, too.

And the baby hippo!

Day 5, was a whale watching tour.

We saw a small group of Gray whales but mostly just the spray from their blowholes. One fluke made an appearance. I don't think the boys were too impressed. It was mostly for me, I know.

The ride out to see them was so long, that the boys fell asleep before seeing the dolphins on the way back in.

The next day, we drove to Henderson, stayed the night and finished driving home the next day. This trip was so much fun that even needing to get work done on the van and locking the keys inside it couldn't ruin it for us. The boys, especially Finn, still talk about it and want to go back soon.
