Life with Finn

Red = Dad's additions
Life before Finn had gotten really slow. Mundane even. Food had no flavor. Music had no rhythm. I had everything ready for him to come weeks before he actually arrived, so I was forever waiting and bored. There were a couple highlights during those weeks though:
Book Club! Here's all my cute book club friends (minus one). No the girl next to me is not just 4 weeks behind me in her pregnancy! Who said that? That's just crazy.

The Meldrums' visit!

Covey and Faye giving me a puppet show!

City Creek and dinner with my wonderful family. Love them so much!!

I was bored enough to even break out my Babysitters Club books! Here Covey gives one a whirl. At least he chose Kristy's Krushers, one about baseball! Ugh! What's next? The Twilight Series?! If you are going to read a girl's book Covey at least go with the true classics like the Sweet Valley High series. Oh those Wakefield twins were just drama drama drama!!!

Finally Finn made his appearance and everything has been crazy since!
Get ready for picture overload and see how this little man has changed in his first 5 weeks! Although we seem to be warmly welcoming this stuffed polar bear as we envelope him in this "family photo", we really were glad to have Finn arrive too. He's the one in the back right.

Don't let him fool ya, this kid has a set a pipes! He came into this world crying, no spank needed from the doc. He does seem somewhat happier these days. So I think he'll stick around.
At first glance it may look like we photo-shopped the top half of Finn onto the the legs of a Burmese monk in the middle of meditation. But believe it or not, somewhere in those flowing pants, I assure you those feet attach to legs and those legs do attach to his torso.
Grandma Nelson. Yes, she called ahead to match her outfit with Finn's blanket. Finally someone was considerate enough to show some class! You know you all could learn something about proper baby etiquette from my mom. (food for thought)

First sponge bath.

Despite counseling him otherwise, Finn insisted on wearing a white onesie before Memorial Day.

I call this one: "Skeptical Finn"

Sometimes this kid looks so much like Covey as a baby, but then other times not at all. I wonder sometimes if Finn's a shape-shifter. Which could really come in handy someday for something right?

Mothers Day. I am one LUCKY lady! Yeah she is! Guess what she got for Mother's Day? Yup! A baby. Guess what I'm getting for Father's Day? You guessed it! Pants.

Finn's still.....getting used to me.

This one can be compared to Covey's 1 month shot in the same shirt on the sidebar. Finn is definitely his own man! It didn't take a picture to know this. I was up in the boys room the other day and Finn has gone through and labeled all his stuff to separate it from Covey's. Kids do the darndest things!

A visit from our best friend, Mark! All the way from Germany to meet Finn. (He may as well go to his sister's wedding while he was here. Just a coincidence I'm sure.) This is Mark's 'I'm in Love with this Baby' look. Catch that Mark? She said "our best friend". That's right, not only are you my best friend, but Julia's too. She has to copy me with everything. First Covey was my son, now he's her son too. And then with Finn here, it just goes on and on.....She's so immature sometimes.

Enjoying some of Covey's "soup". Being totally serious here, I'm not sure who that kid is on the right cause he certainly doesn't look like Covey to me. That kid looks at least 17 years old. Nice try Mark!

I love seeing these two together. Matt turns back into the man I met in college and makes me laugh and laugh. And then Mark leaves.....you get the picture.

A visit from my friend, Susan. She gets props too, for coming all the way from Florida! :) I'm pretty sure Germany is farther than Florida.

First real bath.

This is the night we told Finn its high time he move out of our bedroom. He wasn't ready.

First time going to church.

What Finn learned at his first day of church:
"I know it is fun to wrestle. A nice pile-drive to the face; or a punch to the face; but you cannot do it because it is in the Bible not to wrestle your neighbor."

At Shawna's grave on Memorial Day. Love ya Sis! I think about you everyday and wish I had one more chance to talk to you, but that day will come.

"Hi, Mommy." More like, "No pictures please."

"Help....me." Finn can be such a bully sometimes.

First bald shot after I brushed out all his hair.

Does it look like Finn is urinating out of his belly button to anyone else?

All these shots of the two boys together happen naturally, with Covey asking to hold Finn. He really loves his brother. He's always excited to see him and touch him and is always saying how much he loves him. He calls him "Finny Finny" and "The Finn Boy".

 A whiteboard masterpiece by Covey.

Blessing Day!!

Again, you can compare this to Covey in the same outfit in the sidebar, except Covey is 4 weeks older in his picture (but probably just as big!)

Covey's never had more fun at the splash pad than he did with his cousins this day!

He sure loves his grandpas!

Before you say "those are the coolest pants I've ever seen", let me stop you. Cause those are leg warmers baby!!! Thanks Katy! I'm still waiting for mine.

Finn after telling another one of his clever musings that none of us understand.

Look how much he's changed! He looks like a little boy baby now and not a newborn. The older he gets the more I see that he has his own look and doesn't look a lot like Covey. We can't even fit his whole body in one picture anymore!

I think this picture is hilarious! Finn just noticed Covey is practically naked.

Life with two kids really isn't that crazy as long as I don't attempt to go anywhere or do anything! Like yesterday, I went to the mall and took my friend Jessica with me- Thank Goodness she said yes! When we got out of the car and were trying to set up the new double stroller, I got a bloody nose and Covey was having an accident all at the same time. Finn started crying and had to be pushed in the stroller non stop and Covey had to be taken to the bathroom and on top of that had another accident in the car all on top of trying to do the shopping I'd gone there to do! I don't know what I would've done without her help. But, I wouldn't trade this super handsome baby back for the slow pace before he came. I call him Bunny because he's so super soft and cuddly. I love him tons. It's going to be pretty fun raising the two coolest most handsome boys in the world! Julia is doing an incredible job with these two. Really, she is. Sometimes I just sit back and watch how crazy her life has become with two little boys fighting for her attention and in those times all I can do is just shake my head and wonder how she does all this by herself.

Holy Buckets! I too think the picture of Finn questioning Covey's attire with raised eye brows and look of pure shock. Also love the one of him sitting on the couch with the scrunchy face. It was really nice of you to shave the top of his head to match grandpa Mike. Are you sure the babysitters club book was about baseball and not softball. Don't make excuses for Covey. It's only going to hurt him in the long run.

Considering I didn't even remember the last name of the twins in sweet valley high, I don't think Covey is the only Nelson to ever enjoy preteen girl-drama series books. Matt you need to get a side job as a writer for ackward family photos. Too funny.
