Happy Birthday America!

Wow! What a weekend! Having the 4th land on a Sunday in Utah means twice the holiday excitement, and boy did we take advantage!
It all started with the long, LONG awaited return of Nick and Stacey from Texas. They came in on Friday afternoon, so we had this great idea to put a sign up on the freeway welcoming their family back to Utah. After driving around for a couple of hours, debating over the best spot to do it and massaging the truth in order to get Nick to take Legacy over I-15....the plan eventually failed miserably. Oh well, we got to go and see them in Layton and welcome them home in person. It's great to have them back for the summer!!!
On the 3rd we went to Riverdale to take in the parade and watch kids stand in the middle of the road waiting for some stranger to offer them candy....seems so wrong in so many ways. We then went to the Roy park to attend the Meldrum 4th of July picnic. Unfortunately, it was way past Covey's nap time by the time we started and strange green bees had invaded the playground... so we skeedaddled.
We returned in the afternoon for the Horspool party at Cristie's and stayed in Riverdale for the firework show. We were so nervous that Covey would be scared of the fireworks or just be crazy from sleep deprivation since he normally hits the hay around 8 pm. Once again, however, we underestimated the boy. He got a little restless waiting for the fireworks, and did a little too much snacking and walking about among strangers, but once the fireworks started he was all business. He was so cute pointing up at each firework and then looking at Julia and I as if to say, "are you guys seeing this?"
On Monday the 5th, we went up to the Nelsons for a barbecue and to attend the Brigham firework show. It did not disappoint. The show was great and Covey treated the whole experience like a cool veteran. He was like, "oh, fireworks you say? Yeah, I can handle that." Anyways, check out the footage below for a special inside look at an awesome weekend!

I love when it falls on Sunday! We passed by Mantua today, what is the lake called there? I'm glad you noticed that we are famous in Park City. I really don't understand it, how could they have found me? I am completely confused!
