4 Month Check Up

Woo doggy. I just spent the last hour in Covey's room trying to get him to fall asleep. I'm exhausted, but I won't neglect my blogging duties! So, we just got back (well, an hour ago) from the doctor. Covey sure loves her. He just smiles and smiles at her. I'm glad she's not the one who gives him his shots 'cause that would really burst his love bubble for Dr. Moskun.

Anyway, here's his stats: Height 26 1/2 inches, 93rd percentile. Weight 13 lbs. 14 oz., 27th percentile. Head Circumference 16.3 inches, 26th percentile. My brother says he's got one word for Matt: "Motumbo". I should probably know who that is, but other than being associated with sports, I haven't the foggiest. I'm pretty sure the nurse must have messed up his height last time, because there's no way he was only in the 37th last time if he's in the 93rd this time. I think he must have been wiggly and she didn't get it right. I watched today's nurse and she did it very carefully. So, we'll have to see if he stays tall. I don't know where it would come from if he does. I'm 5'8 and Matt's 6'0. He sure isn't my little tiny baby anymore. :(

His most recent development is the dreaded thumb-sucking! I'd really rather him suck a binky because then when he turns one, Vamoose! It's gone. I fought it for awhile, taking it out and putting in his binky. But the Good Doctor said most babies lose interest in their thumbs once they're crawling and getting into stuff. So, I think I've decided to let him do his own thing and hope she's right so we don't have to read him the story of Streul Peta, the tailor that cuts off their thumbs (ref: The Office, Take your Daughter to Work Day).

Tall boy! My kids always go for the pointer and middle finger and give up the binky at about 1-2 months. Jackson actually likes his binky still, he does get the fingers in sometimes though. Hunter stop sucking when he was done teething, good luck!

this is weird, i know, but I totally had a dream about Covey's 4 month stats last night. I don't remember much about the dream other than you were telling me his stats. guess I've been thinking about it a lot lately! I knew he was tall! tall and skinny, practically perfect!
PS: i tried getting up on monday, but Ben's sleeping hours took a turn on us. I did get out this morning, but it was 6:45 by the time we were out the door. I do like the early hours much better!

PPS: we'd really like to get out and take some more quick pictures of Covey. Let us know when, and if you want to.

I agree with the Larson's comment that Covey is very savvy on giving "the bird". I told Matt that would come back to bite him one day.
