Mark, Ashley, and Sadie Olsen were in town this month, and paid us a visit. For some reason I got it in my head that a trip to Antelope Island would be a fun outing to do together. Being the kind people that they are, the Olsens agreed to go with us. Now, in my defense the website for the island makes it sound like the coolest place this side of the Mississippi, a place where Buffalo roam, wild horses gallop, and white sandy beaches abound. It couldn't have sounded like a better place to visit, in fact, Mark quipped that the island's name should be changed to the Island of Enchantment and I quickly agreed.
Of course for the most part these claims were big fat lies. The island was barren, void of life for the most part. There were buffalo, but they were so far away they had just as well been cows. The only horses we saw were the old mares they wanted to charge $45 bucks to ride. And the white sandy beaches were white alright, white with brine foam and bird droppings, a lethal smelling combination. We did come across a lone outcast buffalo as we were leaving the island that was covered in flies and looked disheveled and unkept. If he'd had a hat on the ground we probably would have given him some change or a dollar. It was a pitiful sight. Ahh, the lies, all the lies!!! Luckily Mark's family had a national parks pass that got us onto the island for just two dollars instead of the nine they usually charge. Just the thought of having to spend nine dollars to see that island makes shivers run up my spine. Terrible, just terrible. We all had to apologize to Sadie and Covey for wasting their time.

I haven't been to Antelope Island forever....listening to your explanation made it sound so boring...but watching your video it looked like the place to be...it is lucky you were able to get to ride that fake horse with all of the people I saw everywhere! Sorry about the waste of a day!
WOW! that movie was sweet! where can we get the soundtrack? That was a great showcase of your editing skills. Sorry to hear that is was boring for you, we had sooooo much fun and have already been back twice with our Summer Fun BuffaloBunceBack (BBB) pass. I can see what potential Brigham Young saw in this enchanted isle as a summer getaway destination. Great to see you guys. Let's meet up at the Golden Spike next year!
