The Ogden Temple open house!
The boys loved it...
...especially Covey, who was mesmerized by all the "GOOOLD!"
I was amazed by the beauty of this temple. It is so gorgeous.
Finn talked about it for a long time afterwards.
Matt giving Finn the Heimlich.
Capturing a random moment of wrestling...
You've heard of the Full Nelson, well let me introduce you to the lesser
known but just as effective move called the Reverse Nelson.
It's pretty safe to say that wrestling is Finn's favorite hobby. The little guy craves the contact and is constantly picking a fight with Dad and Covey. He'll often be heard mid-wrestle uttering the words "you're not so tough" and "I'm stronger than you".
Strike first!
Strike hard!
And always, always, sweep the leg!
Camping in Tanner's Flat.
In the rain.
The rain finally stopped and it was time to start the fire.
Covey was put to work.
Dad directed. Finn supervised.
He likes to supervise.
Our Oriental Palace tent. It's not the quickest to set up, but it sure is roomy!
Boys first lesson in why you should always pack a tarp when you go places.
Tanner's Flat is so beautiful and green.
Finn roasting his first "smosh mellows".
Covey found a second campsite that would double as our outhouse.
Hence the boots.
Sun came out, and now you can see why this is our favorite campsite, it's just gorgeous.
Passed the time coloring rocks.
Dad spent a long time trying to stoke the fire enough to cook some turkey bacon.
In the end, and probably because it was turkey bacon, the trouble was not worth it.
Off on a hike.
Got to keep that cast clean.
"Howdy, ma'am."
Dad and Covey playing Pooh Sticks.
The boys wanted to dip their toes in the river.
They spent about an hour throwing rocks into the river. It's a boy thing.
Oh sorry! And a Dad thing.
One day, Covey got it in his head that he really wanted to have a lemonade stand.
He made the sign and set his own price. :)
He decided to add a sign that said "Free Refills". :) We quickly ran out of lemonade and had to improvise with a Kool-Aid concoction. He made $11 from the sweet people in our neighborhood.
The last week of August, we started off our year of Homeschooling.
I started off the year very ambitious with science and history and typing and art along with the 3 Rs. That lasted until about October, when I decided to simplify. Now, we just make sure we do the 3 Rs every day and talk about the other subjects when situations present themselves. I have LOVED teaching this boy and having him home. I wouldn't have it any other way.
