We returned to Hurricane this past weekend for Matt's 30th Bday Celebration with our awesome "Melum"icious friends. First we showed Covey the splendor of St. George, mainly the temple.

We told him he needed to look presentable on temple grounds but he's a rebel and there's no stoppin him. The kids these days.

He ran straight to it, ascended those stairs and started knocking. (Can you see him on the stairs?)

It was a lot like the opening scene from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

Mommy tried to find him a 4 leaf clover for St. Patty's Day but apparently those things are RARE.

Covey liked the view of the temple from above.

Bike rides are really fun down there, but Covey could NOT be convinced until we tied "Mockey" to the handlebars.

Walking where the dinosaurs once roamed.
(Let's see you top THAT Mark and Ashley!)

It's pretty cool to see tracks here and there all over this dried up river bed. Covey didn't seem to care much about the footprints, but he loved playing in the dirt with his toy dinosaurs. They felt right at home.

Covey liked putting his dinosaur (and often himself) into these mini-caves.

Off exploring looking for lizards.

The new swimsuit on such a little man.

We only got about 2 hours in the sun down there, but Cov made the most of it. He kept telling Matt "I swimmink, I swimmink!"

Matt's Bday Cake. I don't know why Covey's got a grumpy face, but I think it's funny. I think he might be offended at the name of the cake. ;)
Thanks Jules for the surprise cake! I think Cov is a little disappointed that it wasn't for him.
Matt's always the Go To Guy for all kids to catch some entertainment. Whether it's the big kids asking him to play their version of "Cops and Robbers" outside or the little ones hittin him up with a Clifford book, he's the perfect playmate and I LOVE him for it!

On the way home, we took a drive through Kolob Canyon. We had high expectations with a name like that, and it didn't disappoint. The picture really doesn't do it justice. We highly recommend the 5 mile drive to anyone passing by Cedar City, and we can't wait to go back and hike around these red rocks.

And as a "Thank You" for checking in with these weirdo Nelsons, here's a special little nugget I know you'll all treasure:

Have a Great Day!

Looks like you guys had lots of fun in St. George!! YOu guys are such fun parents!! And covey is adorable as ever!!
oh and duh!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATT!!
I walked up to the house about seven sr eight and I said to the cabby yo homes smell ya later.
And my second favorite caption would be that Covey was offended at the name of the cake! You're too much. Hope Matt enjoys life in his THIRTIES. At least he's got a young trophy wife.
Great pictures...looks like you had fun. Love all of Covey's facial expressions!!!
AAAHHHH to be thirty again...enjoy it while it lasts, because before you know it you'll be 31!
Happy 30th Matt! We were all thinking of you around here. And how about those thunder lizards!?! You got us beat there; Call me crazy, but I think that the age of dinosaurs was the original Renaissance. Other things I loved: Fresh Prince shot (I agree, I agree), birthday bike ride, and Matt's sinful choice of dessert. I guess it kind of divides people. Once again, excellent post. We miss you guys! Let's get generating some rough screenplays for our next collaborative motion picture. It should be epic! ...Especially considering that we'll be working with a little more mature cast who can portray a broader depth of emotion.
Oh, PS- thanks for the shout-out and all your supportive comments. They keep us going, more than you'll ever know. If it weren't for you there would be no blog, and who knows, maybe there would be no Olsens...
That nugget was especially special.
SOOOOO Cute! Love all of the pictures...your blog is always good for a laugh! Looks like a fun trip...
